日曜から出張でクアラルンプールに来ました。ホテルは、PNB Darby Park Executive Suites www.pnbdarbypark.com  部屋が広いのが取り柄。キッチンあり便利。但しトイレ・洗面はかなり改善の余地あり。ホテル自体がShariah Compliant (イスラム法に適用）なので、イスラム圏からの旅行者が多い。日本人の赴任者で利用している人もたまに見かけます。

本来が長期滞在者向けなので、WSJ,FTと言った新聞が置いてありません。部屋に地元の英字新聞Starが配られるので、今日はStarの記事を読んで、説明します。マレーシアではどんな記事が報じられているのか知るのも一興かと思います。ご容赦ください。また、明日は夜中の便で帰国予定。時間がありそうもないので、明日はお休みします。悪しからず。

知らない国の国内記事は、国内事情を理解しないと意味がわからないことが多い。

この記事は、中国系の二つの政党(MCA & DAP)が政策についてディベートしていると言う記事。マレーシアでは総選挙が近いと言われている。また、マレーシアは略語が大好きな国民性で、こんなことも略語にするのかという感じで多用する。

keepsake: 記念の品、思い出の品、形見の品。この言葉は知らなかった。覚えておくと便利。

説明：

見出しを見ても全く意味がわかりませんでした。WimbledonではChristyが一試合に2枚のタオルを選手に提供しているが、元々は選手は持ち帰ることで出来ないルールになっていた。みんなが持ち帰るので、主催者も黙認することにした。という内容。

説明：

難しい単語はないが、このニュースを知らなかったので取り上げました。

これはBank of Americaが2008年に買収したCountrywide Financial Corpという住宅ローンの最大手が1991年から2008年の間にVIP Programと称して、議員や官僚に低利の融資を安易に提供していたというもの。

アメリカでも日本でも、やることは変わらないな。

これは面白い記事。

読者の読書の傾向、スピード、読み方等がe-bookの提供者に分かってしまうという内容。

こんなことが分かった例として以下が挙げられている。

インド政府のガソリンへの補助金取りやめがガソリン車の売り上げを急減させ、デイーゼル車の販売を増やしているという記事。

マルチ・スズキはMaruti Suzukiなんですね。これまでMulti Suzukiかと思っていました。

ちなみに、一ガロン当たりの価格を比較すると、ガソリンは4.63ドル。ディーゼルは2.82ドル。

日本以上に巨大な価格差です。

記事をよく読むと、ANAの戦略を述べているだけではない。

「増資発表前に株価が下がった」ということに関し、情報漏えいがあったんではないかという観点から縷々書かれている。いやらしい感じ。 

【企業】Facebook and GM talk new friendship説明：こういうタイトルの付け方、おもしろいですね。

小見出しに、After a high-profile split with the auto maker, Facebook is trying to prove that its advertisements do work. とあり。

なるほど、GMは広告再開するんですね。

 

【社会】【中国】Watching how China censors websites説明：中国当局が検閲をどうやっているか、香港大学の研究者が研究者がかなり解明したという記事。SinaというSNSの投稿と削除の動きを見て、当局が削除する傾向を見つけ出したそうである。SNS投稿の13％が検閲され、検閲は投稿の24時間以内になされているという。すごいね。

昨日の日曜はPNBアセット・マネジメント・ジャパン（株）のオフィスの引っ越し。朝早くから夜遅くまで、随分時間がかかりました。日本橋から紀尾井町へ。ニューオータニガーデンコートの19階になります。
